what we collect
When you use fix.the.text. (web app or Chrome extension), we collect:
- Account info — your name and email address via Google Sign-In, used only to identify your account.
- Text you submit — the text you send for correction. We process it to return a corrected version and store it in your correction history.
- Usage data — which style options you use and when corrections are made, used to improve the service.
chrome extension
The Chrome extension stores an authentication token locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local). This token never leaves your device except to authenticate requests to our API.
When you trigger a correction, the selected text is sent to our servers, processed, and returned. We do not read, store, or analyze text from pages you visit — only text you explicitly select and submit.
how we use your data
- To provide the correction service
- To maintain your correction history
- To manage your account and credits
- To improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties except as required to operate the service (e.g. hosting infrastructure).
data retention
Your correction history is stored as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
third-party services
- Google OAuth — used for sign-in only. We receive your name and email; we do not receive access to your Google account or data.
- Azure OpenAI — text you submit for correction is processed via Microsoft Azure. It is not used to train AI models.
